mood: 90s denim jacket “flair”, these beautiful wallpaper patterns, and Lizzie McGuire (my fashion icon from 2001 to 2004)
This outfit is a compilation of some golden (erm, blue) oldies. The dress was bought in Chicago boutique Hazel circa 2011. The shoes I picked up from & Other Stories a couple of years ago.
The jacket, however, was bought in another century — 1999. I begged my mom to buy it for me from Zutopia, even though it was too big on me. Now it has a cropped look and only just about buttons up, yet has always been a wardrobe staple of mine. There is one stud remaining above the top left pocket, remaining from when I added a studded letter “M” to the jacket with my Bedazzler in 5th grade. In 8th grade, when I decided that a bedazzled monogram was no longer cool, I picked all of the studs off with my fingernails. One was especially stubborn, so I left it. Now, I like that it’s there. It reminds me of all the stories that this little piece of denim holds.
