mood: these pastel buildings, early naughties-era Carrie Bradshaw, the denim getups on Salt ‘n’ Pepa, these marbled paint hues
Surprise! I have naturally curly hair.
Is the grass always greener on the curly haired side? I’m not sure, but everyone seems to have an opinion when it comes to my curly locks. “Why do you straighten it?” they say, or “I wish I had hair like yours, why don’t you wear it curly more?” Sometimes, I don’t know how to answer these questions. “Honestly, it’s just easier when it’s straight” I’ll say, or “I get my curls out when I’m on holiday.”
The truth is, sometimes I feel like having curly hair, sometimes I don’t. I have days when I want to channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw, or let my hair get as horizontal as the weather permits and bounce with me as I walk. I also have days when I want to be able to comb my fingers through my hair and feel something silky and smooth. Sometimes I just feel more pulled together with straightened hair.
For now, I feel lucky that I get to have it both ways.
